OK OK OK, I know what your thinking "another liquor blog, wtf, why am I reading this, he's just an alcoholic", not true! I am mearley trying to share experience with those who might not get a chance to hear me tell it (muy importante!).
I work (alright intern, whatever) at Fuse (TV Music Network) in NYC (across from MSG). I started in June and about a week after busting my ass on a regular basis I decided to find a pub I could go to, hang out, get a bite, maybe a drink (never while working of course).
O'Reilly's Restaurant & Tavern, (21 W 35th St. New York, NY) found me, I didn't find it.
Fast forward, I have been going to this bar all summer; eating, drinking, BS'in with Mike (the Irish bartender) and pretty much just chillin. I tell everyone I know about this bar, Mike treats me and all my friends like royalty, top notch service (much more than I can say about the shitty fuckin bar service in Freehold/Jersey Shore/anywhere else). Beside the fact that dude gives me free 2nd n 3rd drinks, I know I can always get a good conversation (alright and a few free drinks, but whatever, Mike (bartender) knows I can go ANYWHERE else in NYC).
Tuesday, August 19, last week at Fuse.
Me and Jorel (intern/friend of mine at Fuse) head down to O'Rielly's for some lunch. We eat, chill, BS about the olympics and how much snatch Mike Phelps is gonna get. First drink on us (7&7 for me BudLite 4 Jorel), second on Mike (how ill?!). We are about to shove off, Mike says "One for the road?", I say "Alright, but how bout a shot?". "Sure", he says "Jeager?". "Nah", I say, "Whisky man".
I'm thinkin, maybe some Seagram 7, maybe some Jameson, whatever. He pulls down a bottle of this
Johnny Walker GOLD. Never have I ever, and NEVER did I think. Best shot I have ever had, (he tells me its a $20 shot, and I got it for free!! hah). This is now my favorite whisky, shit is soo good, and the story was so ill, I had to jump on.
Next week, August 26th, some friends and I will be going on "Summers Over NYC Bar Crawl 2008" (hit me for info). O'Reilly's will be our first stop, and hopefully our last on the way back. Check this bar out, if you are ever around MSG (all of you are at some point), food and service is above average.
